MTB Trips across England
As many will know the 7-stanes latest venue, Newcastleton forest (Just west of Kielder Forest) is open. Offering more in the way of beginner routes, the rumours were that the red route was "tame". Well we've ridden mtb trips it and reckon it's great fun. The rest of the route heralded more of the same as well as optional boulder causeways, stream crossings log and plank bridges and a taped off route down a quarry face that would make the Dalbeattie slab look tame! The final singletrack descent was "the cherry". It is short, but extensions are bound to appear, and though rideable by intermediates, red route veterans can ride it fast, ride it twice (or more if you like), ride it in and enjoy it.
We recently returned from supporting a successful trailblazing ride from London to the Eden Project in Cornwall with Sustrans. The 350 mile (approx.)route heads southwards from the capital to meet the coast, passing through Southampton, Bournemouth and Plymouth en route.
Though mostly on road it is very scenic and involves a fair bit of climbing in the latter stages. Expect to see it develop into one of Britains most popular routes. A big thanks to those who took part and contributed kindly in appreciation of our MTB services. Hope to see you all again soon, don't forget to contact MTB from time to time! In the meantime here's a few photos from the ride.
